Q: I want a new tree in front of my home/office/business–how do I get one?!

A: There are two main pathways for getting new street trees planted in the city:

1. Through a Neighborhood Planting Award – Since 1989, The Mary Elizabeth Sharpe Street Tree Endowment has matched Providence Parks Department funds to provide trees, soil, sidewalk preparation and tree delivery at no cost to groups of Providence residents who apply for and receive a Neighborhood Street Tree Planting Award.

2. Individual Match-Cost or Full-Cost Plantings – Residents may split the cost of a new tree installation and planting with the City, or apply for a (free) City permit to plant (or have planted) their own tree.
